Work From Home: A kid's eye view

Syndicated from a previously public website – Raju Alluri’s public posts at Sun Microsystems

I am back, and let me start with some fun conversation between me and my 6 n year old son a few weeks ago.

[Just to give some background, I live n in a different city with my family during weekends and work from Bangalore, India during weekdays.]

My Son: “Dad, do you really need n to go to Bangalore today? Why can’t you stay back home today?”

Me: “Dear, I have lots of work to complete this week. So I better go today. Even if I don’t go, I have to work from home.”

My Son: [Pauses for a moment] “I know what happens if you don’t go to Bangalore now.”

Me: “What do you think?”

My Son: “You get lots of phone calls, even in the middle of the night. So you better go.”

[Looks like kids have their own definition of the effects of work-from-home.]
