Calm and Pleasant

A calm and pleasant moment at our SA Palm Meadows.

And for those who want a bit of details, this photo is shot close to midnight, with a 50mm prime lens at 1.8f and 1/25 shutter speed.

Republic Day at Palm Meadows

Our Palm Meadows community celebrated Republic Day today. In addition to the flag hoisting by our community President Sri Anand Raju, we had a few more interesting events. In chronological order, we had

  • A great speech by Baby Ananya on the importance of Republic Day – I could see a young generation ramping up on Indian History.
  • A well composed dance by Ms. Karishma for a patriotic song; I also liked her attire, especially her bangles depicting the tricolor.
  • A thoughtful and mesmerizing talk on mind and its health by Swami Padmanabhanandaji of Sivanandashram (The Divine Life Society), followed by a short Q&A session.

As usual, our support staff did nice arrangements for the event. Here are the pics from the day.

Vinayaka Chaviti at NetEnrich Office

Our family offered pooja at NetEnrich office this year on Vinayaka Chaviti. Surya couldn’t join because of his examination schedule on the following day. Our coworkers and support staff participated in the rituals. After pooja, we had a photo session and prasadam (food that was offered to God) session.

This year, our office used clay-made Ganesha idol that is environment friendly (no plaster of  Paris or lead based colors.) With each passing year, it is good to see several individuals and organizations following this model.

Here is our morning in pictures:

Anniversary 2013

Our Anniversary day greeted us with sober and drizzling weather. I could go for an additional few minutes of bicycling in the rain, making it a nice start. Latha has Sravana Sukravaaram (the Friday in the Telugu month of Sravana) pooja in the morning. In the evening, we headed out for a family dinner at Chutneys restaurant. As usual, we feasted on ghee and spice rich menu. Once we are back home, its cake and fun time. Here are a few pics from the day.

Aero

Aero is brought home this weekend.

Aero is our new puppy – Labrador breed. He is about a month old and we bought him over the weekend.

Still there are a few things to arrange for him at home, but he is finding the marble floor comfortable enough to sleep at will. He already found a few cozy “nap-spots”.

Needless to say, Spurthi is on cloud nine.

Replublic Day 2013

My Republic Day morning is spent at SA Palm Meadows. After a brief session of Squash, I headed to the flag hoisting ceremony organized by the community. This short and sweet function is attended by residents of our community – from all age groups.

The sequence of events included flag hoisting, message by the President of the community and views by a few co-residents. Here are the events captured in photographs.

Snacks served at the end of the ceremony are delicious!

Three Phones

I have been using three phones in the recent past and all three have their own distinct purpose. The purpose of these devices is varying a lot and I am on the verge of kicking out one. The choice seems to be very trivial in terms of which one of these is being kicked out.

  • Blackberry: This has been my legacy work phone. Still has traces of usage for checking emails, sending SMS and regular phone calls.
  • iPhone: This is becoming my primary work phone, that is linked to email, one time password and authentication systems and a bit of communication like FaceTime. Depending on the carrier of the hour, this is also used for maps and other related applications.
  • Android: This is my primary and preferred personal phone. I feel like I have more control on the network (connectivity and bandwidth), data and identity aspects of my internet usage while using my Android phone. The applications I use mostly are simple and effective. The current device I use may be a little under powered for the kind of apps I have loaded, but I feel confident about the ease of moving to another device. Most of my personal authentication systems are linked at this time to this phone.

Given the usage patterns, the role of my Blackberry is slowly confining to being a device that makes phone calls. Once that is done, I may do away with that phone forever.

Wedding Anniversary

Our wedding anniversary turned out to be quite a busy day. We could head out in the morning for a really uneventful shopping session. Lunch at Little Italy is really nice with its comprehensive menu – we are too full by the time we headed out of the restaurant. Because of kids’ busy schedules, dinner is take away from a local restaurant. As usual, our anniversary cake (death-by-chocolate, whenever Spurthi goes to the bakery) turned out to be a perfect dessert. Here are the pics from the day.

Anniversary2012

During the day, we also went to NetEnrich to celebrate with a few goodies. Here we are at NetEnrich.
